What is CDI and why it matters for your investments
The rate that benchmarks almost all fixed income in Brazil, explained in a few minutes.

CDI (Interbank Deposit Certificate) is the instrument Brazilian banks use to lend money to each other overnight. The average rate of those operations — the DI rate — became the main benchmark for fixed income in Brazil.
Why it moves with Selic
Banks trade these very short-term loans at a cost very close to the benchmark interest rate. That's why CDI usually sits a few hundredths below the Selic target.

What does "100% of CDI" mean?
When a bank CD promises 100% of CDI, it pays the same accumulated change of the DI rate over the period. A bond at 110% of CDI pays 10% more than that.
